Welcome Home Tyler Harris

On Saturday, September 18, 2010, VFW Post 1463 was honored to host a luncheon for Lcpl Tyler Harris, a young, heroic Lititz marine. Karl Spidel, Cmdr. of the Lancaster County chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, was instrumental in coordinating the Purple Heart organization, VFW Post 1463 and the Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Garden Spot Post 56 and its Ladies Auxiliary, and local businesses to celebrate this young man’s military accomplishments in Afghanistan, and welcome him home to Lititz. Tyler’s family attended the luncheon along with many friends, local citizens and Post members who all thanked this young man for his service. Karl Spidel presented the Purple Heart to Tyler.

Gifts, citations, and flags flown over the state capital were presented to Tyler by Post 1463, American Legion Riders, Senator Mike Brubaker, Representative John Bear, and Tom Tillett, a representative for Senator Joe Pitts. John Getz, state quartermaster VFW Dept. of PA, presented a special commendation to Tyler. Tyler is now a member of VFW Post 1463 and the American Legion.
