Hand Carved Plaque Presented

On Tuesday, May 24, 2011, Tom Mannon, a Lititz resident, presented a unique handcarved plaque to VFW Post 1463 in appreciation of Lititz veterans.

Tom and his wife Kim met VFW members at the Post to present this beautiful plaque which is crafted from three pieces of flawlessly joined mahogany and measures 46 inches long by 24 inches high. The plaque depicts an eagle, arrows in his talon, and a ribbon carved with the message PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH. Wilbur Buds are carved on a wooden scroll at the top serving as a symbol of Lititz. The reverse side has this inscription: "Remembering and Honoring the men and women of Lititz who have served country and community."

Mr. Mannon invested 200 hours of his time in creating this piece. It is truly a magnificent gift to the Post and an inspiring salute to veterans. The plaque and a plate containing the inscription will be placed inside Post 1463 where Post members and visitors can appreciate it.

Post 1463 sincerely thanks Mr. Mannon for his time and effort and appreciation of our veterans.

Past Post Commander Richard Getz, Post Commander Joel Ellis, Mr. Tom Mannon, incoming Sr. Vice Commander Ron Lantz.
